26 YO FROM HANOVER WANTED

Operations in search of a man implicated in an incident on Thursday, March 23 in which a Police Sergeant was injured are continuing at this hour even as the Police seek to reassure residents of Alexandria in St. Ann that their safety is a priority.

The wanted man has been identified as 26 year-old Sadan Lloyd Mullings of Elgin Town, Lucea, Hanover and he is said to be wanted in connection with several other serious crimes in western Jamaica and St. Ann. He is being urged to turn himself in to the nearest Police Station immediately.

Meanwhile the Police officer who was injured was taken to hospital for treatment, and is said to be recovering. A man was also fatally shot during the incident. He is unidentified.

Reports are that about 9:00 p.m., a team of Police was conducting coordinated operations at Armadale, Alexandra in St. Ann in search of men implicated in the quadruple murder in Westmoreland on Saturday, March 18. The Police strategically cordoned the premises and instructed the occupants to exit however explosive devices were reportedly thrown at the Police team. Actions were taken to counter the attack.

As investigations continue to unfold, the Jamaica Defence Force, which has expertise in explosives, has been called in to assist. An elevated Police presence also remains in the community.

Meanwhile, the Police are highlighting that last night’s incident clearly demonstrates the brazenness of, and the level of arsenal in the possession of criminal elements. Citizens are therefore being reminded that the Police need their support to prevent and solve crimes. The Police are therefore renewing the appeal for residents to be on the alert and look out for suspicious persons and activities in their communities and immediately report anything untoward to the Police.
