Police Seize Four Firearms Overnight; Five Men In Custody

Four firearms were removed from the streets between July 10 and July 11 and five men taken into custody in relation the seizures.
One Taurus 9mm Pistol and One 9mm Glock Pistol along with three magazines and forty-eight 9mm rounds were seized during a traffic stop in the vicinity of Linstead along the North/South Highway on July 10 at 11:07 p.m.
Reports are that police personnel signalled a White Suzuki Ertega motorcar to stop and a search was done. The Taurus Pistol was found on one of the occupants and a Glock pistol recovered from inside the car. Three men were taken into custody.
Earlier, about 6:15 p.m., a 9mm Glock 17 pistol was seized and two men arrested during a stop and operation. Reports are that officers attached to the Olympic Gardens Police Station signalled a motorcycle with two occupants to stop. They complied and were search by the police and the firearm found.
About 8:15 a.m. on July 11, a Universal Hialeah M1 30-calibre rifle with a magazine and seven rounds were seized during an operation in Goldsmith’s Villa, August Town on July. During the operation, a house was searched and the firearm was discovered; one man was also taken into custody.
Investigations continue.
