Former Member of Parliament for East Rural St Andrew, the People’s National Party’s Damion Crawford has emerged ahead in a poll conducted by pollster Bill Johnson on behalf of the PNP as it moves to determine the best person suited to replace Portia Simpson Miller as the MP for South West St Andrew, Loop News understands.
When respondents were asked, “Who do you think is best suited to replace Portia Simpson Miller?” Crawford reportedly received 20 per cent approval. PNP President Dr Peter Phillips was second with 13 per cent; and councilor for the Payne Land Division in South West St Andrew, Audrey Facey Smith, was third with 11 per cent.
Interestingly, PNP vice president Angela Brown Burke, who Simpson Miller endorsed to succeed her, got the least of the votes, registering only four per cent. She also registered the least amount of votes in the favourability ratings section of the poll, which was also led by Crawford.
Sixty-five per cent of South West St Andrew constituents had a favourable opinion of Crawford, compared to Facey Smith’s 39 per cent and Brown Burke’s 30 per cent.
When constituents were asked which of the candidates do they have an unfavourable opinion of, Brown Burke registered 14 per cent, Facey Smith polled 10 per cent and Crawford four percent.
That survey need fi do over! Brown-Burke tek up valuable space. An new comer should have been on the list.
A mussy parda “lady” damian ago play.
I like Damion, Young vibrant and knowledgeable. If the populace gives him such an high percentage there is a reason. It’s time to replace all this non-factor nyammy nyammy old mentality politicians who dunce like bat and only wants to take tax payers money.
I might not agree with Damion on everything but anyone who teaches self reliance have sense.
