Cops charged for kidnapping businessman
Two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force have been charged with kidnapping and breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act after they allegedly abducted a businessman.
They were offered bail in the sum of $600,000 when they appeared in the Trelawny Parish Court on Tuesday.
The accused, Corporal Roger Davis and Constable Ricardo Foster, are to return to court on September 7.
Both were charged on Friday by detectives from MOCA West.
Allegations are that on July 12, the policemen, posing as officers from MOCA, stopped and forcibly took the complainant from his motor vehicle and solicited $2 million, to which he reportedly agreed.
The complainant escaped after they took him to his house to collect the money.
The policemen then took the complainant’s spouse from the house and took her to Falmouth, Trelawny.
When their ransom demand was not met, they released her.
A report was subsequently made to MOCA-West resulting in the arrest of the two policemen.
