A man who the police say is described as the ‘don of all dons’ was on Monday shot dead on Mountain View Avenue in St Andrew.
The man, 38-year-old Valbert Harley, otherwise called “Waldie”, who the police say holds the don title because he had claimed he was in charge of the entire Corporate Area, was shot dead while travelling from the Corporate Area Criminal Court.
In a release from the constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit Monday, the police refuted claims of involvement in Waldie’s shooting death and the injuring of three others.
Reports from the police are that about 12:30 pm, the 38-year-old and his brother — who were jointly charged in a murder matter — were travelling from court in a Honda motor car with another man.
The police say they pulled over on the road to make a purchase from a vendor when men travelling in a dark-coloured motor car drove up, alighted from the vehicle, and opened gunfire hitting them and two others, including the vendor.
The release said the police were summoned and the injured men were taken to hospital where Harley was pronounced dead and the others admitted.
Harley, who is from Garth Road in Kingston 11, is said to be an area leader who operates out of Olympic Gardens, St Andrew.
