JAMAICAN JUDGE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR DRUNK DRVING

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Cayman Islands is to deliver a ruling in the case involving former Jamaican Supreme Court judge Ingrid Mangatal.

Justice Mangatal, who is a judge of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, was arrested on September 4 on suspicion of driving under the influence and careless driving after her car crashed into a wall.

It was reported that the judge was alone in the vehicle.

A spokesperson for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service confirmed that the case has now been passed to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutors to decide whether Justice Mangatal will be charged.

Since her arrest and subsequent release on bail, she has continued to hear cases.
