Sexagenarian, accomplice arraigned for raping nine-year-old girl

A 65-year old man, Lawal Angala of Safana town, Katsina State, and an accomplice, Isah Lawal, 19, have been charged to court for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl.
The accused persons were said to have sexually assaulted the victim several times.
The victim’s mother, Shamsiya Abdullahi reported the incident at the Safana Divisional Police Headquarters, Katsina.
Abdullahi reportedly told the police that the two men lured her daughter to Angala’s house, where they allegedly “had sexual intercourse with her several times.”
The duo, who are facing a charge of rape, which contravene Section 283 of the Penal Code, have been remanded in the Katsina Prison until January 14, 2019, when their case is expected to come up before Senior Magistrate Fadile Dikko.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, requested for an adjournment to enable the police conclude their investigation.
“Investigation is still in progress on the case and I hereby apply for another date for the case to come up for mention,” he told the court.
His request was granted.
