MEN WHO KILLED HANOVER FAMILY OF 6 GIVEN 80 YEARS

The two men who slaughtered six members of a Hanover family before setting their home on fire will have to serve at least 80 years in prison.

Errol Clarke, 51, and Mikhail Campbell, 27, were both given the mandatory life in prison when they were sentenced in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston yesterday.

Clarke and Campbell were convicted in the Hanover Circuit Court on November 30 for six counts of murder, four counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and one count of arson arising from the deadly 2015 attack in the community of Logwood that shocked the nation.

The police report that about 11:30p.m. on October 8, 2015 a group of heavily-armed gunmen invaded a dwelling house located on Campbelton Road.

They kicked open the doors, sprayed the occupants with bullets and then set fire to the house before making their escape.

When the smoke cleared the bodies of 15-year-old student, Davian Mahabee, 18-year-old Alia Mahabee, Linette Bloomfield, 63, Mark Bloomfield, 40, Kerry-Ann Bloomfield, 36, and Brian Mangaroo, 30, were found among the rubble.

Four persons survived the attack with serious injuries.

HERE ARE THE SENTENCES:

Life imprisonment on each count for the first three counts of murder.

Sentences are to run concurrently, with the possibility for parole after serving forty years in prison.

For the other three murder convictions, life in prison.

Sentences are to run concurrently, with the possibility for parole after serving 80 years.

On the four counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, the men each received sentences of 20 years imprisonment at hard labour to run concurrently.

On the sole count of arson, they were each sentenced to 20 years imprisonment at hard labour.

Assistant Commissioner of Police McArthur Sutherland, who heads the Criminal Investigations Branch, was full of praise for the detectives who led the probe.

“The efforts to apprehend and have the perpetrators answer criminal charges which led to their conviction is indeed commendable. The parish of Hanover is a much safer place with these perpetrators effectively removed from the communities,” Sutherland said.

  1. I love it when American judges sentence killers to 9, 999 years in prison or some other ridiculous amount of time, it’s so fricken satisfying. He should have gotten 1000 years times 6 with no possibility of parole. Since the death penalty gone, these types of sentencing might actually serve as a deterrent.

  2. I paid taxes, now they’re reaping hard earned taxpayers money ,are you serious?. Throw those creatures in a swamp and let alligators devour them. They are some heartless monsters

  3. Wish they would bring back death penalty for criminals who are sure to have committed the crime with no reasonable doubt, because he will be living off of taxpayer money, him woman or him mother can bring him his nice sunday dinner, family and friends can come visit him, this nuh sit well with me, while those victims are no longer here.
