KEY WITNESS IN UCHENCE GANG ROBBERY TESTIFIES VIA VIDEO

A key prosecution witness testified on Tuesday he was involved in robberies carried out by the St. Catherine-based Uchence Wilson Gang. The individual, who is now under the witness protection programme, was giving testimony via video link at the trial of Uchence Wilson and 23 other members of his network before the Home Circuit. Investigators have accused the gang of being involved in car robberies and break-ins, stealing more that $400 million in goods over a two year period in several parishes. During his opening on Tuesday, the lead prosecutor outlined that the Crown would be relying heavily on the testimony of two former gang members who are now state witnesses. One of the witnesses today identified Wilson and some of the defendants. He told the trial that he participated in robberies and was also involved in selling stolen appliances, laptop computers and other items to a store in the Corporate Area. He recounted a 2016 incident in which five of them carried out an armed robbery at a house owned by a medical doctor on Paddington Terrace in St. Andrew. He said the gardener on the property was held at gunpoint while they removed items from the house. He said they stole the doctor’s Mercedes Benz and Toyota Prado

  1. We using live link testimony in Jamaica now? That is awesome, we’ve neede it for a loonng time. Victims can now face their accusers, witness in protection can now do that too, so happy about this cauz now we can possibly get more convictions since they can both give their testimonies whilst not being too fearful of facing the defendants. Its good we stepping into 2019, they shouldnt have to risk their lives to testify against perceived criminals. (It atleast lessens the risks of being found by persons who want to do them harm)
