]November 2016 four grade 8 girls where sexually assaulted by members of the Ocho Rios High School football team. The girls were suspended for ” sexual acts on and off School Compound”. The members of the football team for a suspended but we’re never removed from the team. The girls were 14 years old. [ ]In 2017 two girls; one from grade 8 and the other from grade 9 were batteried by members of the football team. The boys continued to play for the school despite their involvement in the acts. The girls were 14 years old. [ ]In 2018 two Grade 9 girls were raped by members of the football team, while they attended summer school. Yet again the boys who committed the acts continue to play for the School’s football team. There was no sanction for the acts. The girls were 14 and 15 years old. [ ]Interestingly, the principal and the board’s chairman are celebrated Christians of the Anglican Church, who continues to ignore the pleas from teachers and administrative staff. The efforts to stem the level of rapes of our young girls have been totally ignored as they focus on “making a name for the school” through football and other sports. [ ]It is also interesting to note that the killing of Raven Wilson (a grade 8 student of Ocho Rios High School) in 2018 was allegedly committed by two boys of the said High School. One would think that the school’s administration would even try to act like they care about the girls who are constantly being abused sexually. Nothing has changed. It’s life as usual at the school. [ ]Are the citizens of this country, the children’s agencies, the Ministry of Education, The Anglican Diocese, the Board and Board’s Chairman, the Principal, teachers and other members of staff, students news reporters and social media, waiting for another killing? What are they waiting for to investigate these rapes then? Do you not know what boys who have been reported of criminal acts can and will do? Isn’t Raven’s killing enough of a warning? Are you waiting for another killing?
Omg this is so sad
