So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Matthew 28:8 – 9
One important aspect of Mary’s reaction when she saw the empty tomb of the resurrected Lord is the way she ran to inform the other apostles of what she had just seen. She didn’t have time to sit down and feel disappointed about the fact that the wicked rulers had not only crucified her Lord but they had also taken away His body. Jesus had said, He was going to tear down the temple and rebuild it in three days. Jesus had spoken enough about his impending death and resurrection in confirmation of what the prophets of old had said but those who heard him obviously didn’t believe a word of it or else the apostles, Lazarus, the woman with the issue of blood, blind Bartimaeus would have all been on their way to the grave that early morning. But that’s not the big deal; the big deal is that after the woman had her encounter with the risen Lord, she hit the road running with the good news.
This year, you will have such privileged encounters with the Lord in areas of your life where you need His divine touch and when that happens, don’t sit back and enjoy it. Hit the road running because every divine encounter is the energizer you need to run and tell all who need to know that Jesus is indeed alive and working miracles in the lives of His own. That miracle you need is not for you to stretch just your feet and enjoy the blessing for it; it is for you to run faster and closer towards the fulfillment of your divine destiny. Some people will have countless reasons to run faster and faster this year because God will show Himself strong on behalf of those who trust in His name. Don’t be selfish; Mary could have gone home to just relax and enjoy how the divine experience with the Lord feels but she got others who had lost hope running to experience the power of resurrection. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. (John20 – NLT)
