SPIRITUAL MATURITY-GOOD MORNING

SPIRITUAL MATURITY

One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew how long he had been ill, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get there, someone else always gets in ahead of me John 5:5 – 7
The man at the pool of Bethesda had his story properly plotted in his mind; he reasoned that he will probably die crippled because there was no one to help him get in to the pool at the miracle hour that the angel came to steer the waters. He was comfortable with the fate he had written out for himself and could not see beyond it. That is why when the Healer came by to have a little conversation with him he had a simple story to tell. How can you be talking to a helper who left the comfort of His glorious throne to come and help you and you still say you have no help? That is like talking to a lawyer that has been assigned to defend you in a case that has been brought against you in court and still claim that you have no lawyer to defend you.
Jesus knew from the man’s response that he was a baby in spiritual things and he needed to grow up. He did not play hard ball with him like he did with the Canaanite woman who came demanding for healing for her child (Jesus rejected her initial plea clearly stating that healing was the children’s bread and it was not right for Him to give the children’s bread to dogs). The woman was mature in the things of the spirit and could fight the fight of faith. He knew that while the woman had reasons why she must receive the miracle she needed for her child, the man at the pool had reasons (excuses) why he could not receive his miracle. Spiritual maturity comes when you stop making excuses and start making changes that will cause the miracle you need to manifest. Stop telling stories that justify why you and generations of your family have been living under a curse for long and start doing what it takes to break the curse.
Liberation thought: I am growing in the spirit

Prayer:
• Fire from God’s throne chase away every evil pursuing me
• O Lord let my enemy come to shame over my case
• I stand in agreement with the anointing of the oracle and I declare milk and honey in place of bitterness
