Man, 35, In Police Net For Defiling 8-Year-Old

A 35-year-old man identified as Musa Ibrahim, is now cooling his feet in police net in Kano State for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl.

The suspect had allegedly defiled the girl at the Rijiyan Zaki area of the Kano metropolis, after he was said to have lured her with a pack of noodles.

The Kano State Police Command which confirmed the arrest of Ibrahim, said the suspect has been arrested and that they had commenced investigations into the incident.

The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said “immediately the case was reported to the Police, the Commissioner, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, ordered for a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident.”

He added that “the victim has been conveyed to the hospital for medical check-up, to ascertain the extent of injury she must have suffered,” saying “at the conclusion of investigations, the Commissioner of Police said the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.”

Sources in the community which preferred anonymity disclosed that the suspected rapist was a family friend of the girl’s parents.

The source further disclosed that the victim was conversant with Ibrahim, and said this made it possible for him to convince and lure her to a corner of a building, where he succeeded in defiling her.

However, when the matter became public knowledge, a relative of the suspect, said to be an Immigration officer, was allegedly trying to use his influence to sweep the case under the carpet.
