Two dead, 18 injured in St. James crash
Eighteen people, including children, have been rushed to hospital following a fatal three-vehicle collision along the Elegant Corridor, close to the Flanker community in Montego Bay, St. James, Monday evening.
Two of the three drivers have been confirmed dead.
The three vehicles include a grey Nissan bus, a white Nissan sedan operating as a taxi, and a white Toyota sedan.
It is still not clear what caused the crash, however, it is understood that 11 children were being transported in the Nissan bus at the time of the crash.
The driver of that bus, as well as the driver of the Toyota died shortly after. The driver of the taxi, along with three others from that vehicle are among those taken to hospital.
One side of the dual carriage way leading out of Montego Bay remained closed on Monday evening. The other side had to be opened for two way traffic.
No matter what they want to call it every old time Montegonian knows that Rose Hall Road has always been accident prone. So many drivers out on the roads driving around unfamiliar with certain history of certain places. Go slower and be more cautious in certain places, if you late already speeding is not going to stop you from late so slow down.
I just feel like many of these accidents, especially the ones during morning rush hour is because of taxis that can take limited amount of passengers rushing to double their takings. Notice the larger public passenger vehicles hardly in accidents.
Some are just sacrifices. Jamaica gone to the dogs I swear .
