Lupita N’yono ,from the movie, Twelve Years A Slave gave an acceptance speech at Essence’s Women in Hollywood luncheon. The actress/ producer , orignally from Kenya cited a letter she received and spoke about her journey of self love as a woman of color. Lupita’s speech was profound as she explained how her mother had told her often that ”You cant eat beauty, it does not sustain you”.
Beautiful
If ever there was a beautiful speech, this is it.
Well Said!
Something so POSITIVE gets so LITTLE comments….SMH
I love this actress. Born beautiful, she has much more to her than beauty. I love that she uses her brain, too.
I hope many young girls see this speech and learn to love the skin God gave them.
If that aint the truth, i dont know what is!!
She is such a breath of fresh air.
Such an inspiring speech! Words to live by “You can’t eat beauty, it doesn’t sustain you!”
PERFECT!! BEAUTIFUL!!
I love this woman. True natural beauty. Finally people recognize beauty without the bleaching, the long horse hair, the heavy make up. Her skin is so radiant and it has a perfect glow to it.
Love her! phenomenal young actress, 2012 Yale graduate, she’s just gorge #perfect role model
