A police constable who is on suspension from the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has been charged with the February 7 murder of Jamaican Nicoma McFarlene.
Kasroy Simon was charged last week after an autopsy showed that Ms McFarlane was strangled and did not commit suicide as the scene was staged to suggest.
He appeared in court and was ordered remanded.
He is to return to court on June 5 when it will be known whether his case is to be sent to the High Court for trial.
Constable Simon’s suspension is unrelated to the murder allegation.
Ms McFarlene arrived in Antigua last October to assist her mother who was preparing for major surgery which was set for last week Wednesday.
The accused is said to have known the 25 year-old woman prior to her going to Antigua and the two were close friends, reportedly, until he allegedly refused to accept her rejection of his desire to take their relationship to another level.
String him up n heng him up alive!!
Dem fi kill him back.
That poor girl, her poor mother must be heartbroken. May the Lord give her mother some measure of peace and I wish her all the best with her surgery.
