ATTORNEY AND DRUG TRAFFICKER TO STAND TRIAL

Attorney-at-law Dawn Satterswaite, convicted transnational drug trafficker Andrew Hamilton and their four co-conspirators are to go on trial on October 19 for breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The date was set when they appeared in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday.

In December 2013, Ms. Satterswaite, Paulette Higgins, Janet Ramsey and Ann-Marie Cleary were charged following predawn operations by MOCA’s Taskforce and Financial Investigation Division.

The operations were part of a probe into a case of money laundering and other financial crimes.

Ms. Satterswaite’s husband Terrence Allen is also charged in the matter.

Andrew Hamilton, who is a former member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, was arrested and charged in December 2016 after his deportation from the United States.

He served four and a half years on drug trafficking charges.
