BLOODY GOOD FRIDAY

The Spanish Town police are probing a deadly attack in the old capital on Thursday in which three persons were shot, one fatally, by gunmen.

The dead man has been identified as 20 year-old Shamar Smith, a resident of St. John’s Road.

It is reported that about 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, two armed men invaded a house along St. John’s Road and opened gunfire on the occupants.

Mr. Smith and two other men sustained bullet wounds.

The 20 year-old was pronounced dead on the scene, while the injured men were taken to hospital.

Investigators say they suspect that a gang feud led to the attack.

SECOND SHOOTING

A man is now in hospital under police guard following a reported gun battle between the police and gunmen in Tivoli Gardens, West Kingston, on Thursday.

The suspect has been admitted in serious condition.

A firearm was also seized in the incident.

It is reported that about 2 o’clock Thursday morning, members of a police team were on foot patrol in Tivoli Gardens in the vicinity of Bustamante Highway, when they came upon two armed men who opened fire at them.

The police say the cops returned fire and one of the suspect was found suffering from gunshot wounds with a firearm beside him.

They say it was a Glock pistol loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.

Personnel from the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) were reportedly unable to visit the location due to gunfire in the area

Two dead, three in hospital following shootings in Liguanea, St. Andrew

Two men are dead and three recuperating in hospital after they were shot in separate incidents in Liguanea, St. Andrew on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as 23 year-old Romaine Minott, otherwise called Baggage of an Old Hope Road address and 29 year-old Junior Brown, otherwise called Popsie of Cedar Valley Road, more popularly known as Standpipe.

It is reported that about 7:45 pm, Mr. Minott was standing with a group of men at the Barbican Road entrance to Standpipe when a motor car drove up.

Its occupants opened gunfire.

Mr. Minott and another man were shot.

Mr. Minott was pronounced dead at hospital, while the other man was admitted.

In the other incident which occurred about 8:30, Mr. Brown was with two men in the Standpipe community when a man walked up and opened gunfire.

All three men were shot.

Mr. Minott was pronounced dead in hospital.

The other men were admitted.
