Singjay Bridgez, along with her knife wielding attacker, will be heading to mediation on November 9.
Bridgez, whose given name is Bridgette Roache, was reportedly attacked by a man while purchasing jerk chicken along Red Hills Road in St Andrew in July. She was stabbed several times and her vehicle’s fog lights were destroyed.
The matter was reported to the Constant Spring Police Station. Her attacker was charged with unlawful wounding and destruction of property.
Speaking with Jamaica Observer yesterday, the entertainer said if they do not come to an agreement at the mediation session the matter will return to court on November 17.
“If we do come to an agreement and he pays me back for the damages he caused towards me and my car, then we can move on. If not, we will head back to court,” she said.
The entertainer said the decision to go to mediation arose because she was becoming weary of going before the court on a monthly basis.
“I know how the justice system works and they can sometimes draw out a case for even five years and all I want to do is just get paid back for all these medical bills that I have to spend unnecessarily and for the damage that he did to my car,” she said.
Bridgez also stated that she believes her attacker deserves to be punished for his actions.
“He does deserve to go to prison, but I don’t want him to. I just want to move on with my life. My shoulder still hurts like hell from the injuries he caused and I am left with this nasty scar in my back. I can’t deal with the bad blood so I just want to be compensated for the damages he caused to me and my car,” she said.
Although she has returned to the recording studios, Bridgez said she is still traumatised by the incident and is afraid of going on the road alone.
Today, the singer will release a medley video for her singles Unreal and Pretty Wine. The music video was directed by her while the song was produced by Corneilus and K Swiss Records.
Her other songs include Put it On Me, Distracted, and Roll Out, featuring her mentor Bounty Killer.
Maybe me don’t understand. He tries to kill her and she wants to go to mediation? Crazy. Mediation is also not legally binding.wish her all the best still.
