BRITISH MAN ACCUSED OF SENDING DRUG MULE TO JAMAICA

A British man has denied running a gang suspected of sending a drugs mule to Jamaica to transport cocaine to the UK.

Nathaniel Freeman,34 is accused of being the ringleader of a network which brought cocaine and heroin from London and the West Midlands to Plymouth.

He allegedly ran the gang from his prison cell – including sending a co-defendant Jordane Morris to Montego Bay, St. James under the cover of a holiday.

Plymouth Crown Court on Tuesday heard the co-defendant was arrested on the M5 motorway upon her return with a quarter of a kilogram of cocaine hidden in the lining of her suitcase.

Freeman and Morris are among eight people who have been on trial for the past three weeks.

The jury has heard transcripts of recorded phone calls Freeman made from Exeter Prison in the months after his remand in April 2017.

Prosecutors have claimed that he was arranging his drug business from behind bars.
