Build Up Your Spirit
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Romans 8:26
We all are in the flesh and body as long as we live on this earth. Therefore, this body that is subject to death will constantly suggest its own desires to our hearts even if our reborn spirit only desires to please God in complete obedience. The weak flesh lures you to fall prey to temptations around you.
But here is the Good news: Praying in the spirit by the Holy Spirit applies spirit to flesh. It causes your spirit to rise up and take charge. Just like using barbells strengthens your arms, praying in other tongues strengthens your spirit. Your spirit is more powerful than your flesh, and as you give it outflow, the flesh will simply have to yield to it .build up your spirit to strengthen him until it dominates your flesh.
We are told to crucify the flesh. The commandments of God are not burdensome. If He has asked you to do something, it is because He knows you can. He has placed the ability in you. Most believers don’t understand that. If you are overwhelmed by some sin, you should conquer it by the things of God such as praying and walking in the Spirit. If you are the one am talking to, take heart! God hasn’t commanded you to be more spiritual than you can be. He knows your weakness and He’s given you a way to overcome it. I believe you have the ability to pray in tongues—and with your understanding to wield the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. The devil will try to talk you out of it. He knows that once you learn how to bring the flesh in line, he will have no foothold left in your life. You will shut the door on him and he won’t be able to get in again.
Ask the Spirit of God to rekindle that fire in you to pray in the Spirit from today. If you are yet to be baptized, ask God to pour His spirit on you or get baptized under the unction of the Spirit in your Church. Make up your mind to follow Gods command in Jude 20 and “build yourselves up…on your most holy faith. Make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher, praying in the Holy Spirit” (The Amplified Bible)!
Prayer:
1 Any spirit living or dead that has tampered with my star, what are you waiting for? Die by fire in Jesus name.
2 Oh God of Dr. Chris Okafor, rekindle the fire in me to pray in the spirit, rekindle the spirit of obedience and the ability to conquer the flesh in Jesus name.
3 Every power manipulating my life, claiming ownership over my life, my carrier, my decisions in life catch fire in Jesus name.
