Police have been accused of racial profiling after a club in London was allegedly banned from playing Jamaican music.
According to the Guardian, Roy Seda, the owner of Dice Bar in Croydon, said he had been approached several times in the last year by police officers urging him to stop playing Bashment music, which includes chart-topping artists such as Sean Paul and Beenie Man.
Seda has placed a sign next to the DJ decks reminding artists not to play bashment and asked DJs to sign contracts vowing not to play the genre.
Bashment music the law enforcement officers say is linked to crime and disorder. They claim Bashment was associated with homophobia in the early 1990s.
Other reports suggest the Police are denying prohibiting any type of music at the bar, claiming the bashment ban was voluntary.
Meanwhile efforts by Music News to get a comment from Roy Seda, the proprietor of Dice Bar in London were futile.
