Visitor harassment problem at all time low
The problem of visitor harassment in Jamaica is now at an all time low.
That’s according to chairman of the National Cruise Council Michael Belnavis who is crediting the police and the Courtesy Corps for the drastic reduction.
Belnavis says the reduction has not escaped the attention of international cruise ship operators and local tourism stakeholders who are urging the authorities to maintain the anti-harassment efforts.
He says the police and the members of the Courtesy Corps have been very visible and proactive and must be commended for maintaining a zero-tolerance approach, especially in the cruise shipping towns of Falmouth, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.
Belnavis says as a result of their efforts not only are more visitors walking the streets, but they are interacting freely and cutting their own deals with the craft vendors and other business operators.
