FAMILY FEUD AT WEDDING RECEPTION

Carlene and Mike Harrison were ready to celebrate the first couple of hours as husband and wife with friends and family last Saturday in Clarendon.

But while the church service went well, what they encountered as they walked in for the reception was more than they bargained for.

A 20-year fallout between two members of the respective families resulted in their wedding day being ruined.

“It was supposed to be a great day, but it was ruined because of family,” Carlene cried.

As she broke down, Mike explained that his mother and Carlene’s father used to date when they were younger and things did not end well between them.

He said that since both families met a year ago, the tension was visible but they agreed to be civil for their children.

SEATING ARRANGEMENT

However, a day that was supposed to be special for their children, turned into a nasty fight over seating in the reception area.

“My mom don’t like her dad because dem use to date when dem did in dem 20s and him mussi leave har fi har (Carlene) mada. I spent so much money on this day and it ended on a sad note,” he said.

The STAR understands that the father of the bride sat closer to the bridal party because of how the seating was arranged, but the mother of the groom was not pleased about it.

“From before Carlene and Mike come, she a fuss because she never like where the man was and where she was. She a cuss and a gwan bad and people a try calm her down. Because how the place set up, one a dem woulda deh closer to the front and she never like that,” Suzette, a cousin of the groom said. “Things get outa hand when she go bax him (the groom’s father) and him wife grab har and dem start fight.”

Hell broke loose according to the guests, who said that Carlene and Mike ran in and tried to end the brawl.

Fighting to hold back the tears, Carlene told the STAR that her special day was ruined because of something that happened many years ago between their parents and the unwillingness of either party to let things go.

She said that she is very disappointed in both families for allowing her special day to be ruined.

“I don’t even know if I will forgive them for what they did. My dress was ruined; my cake was on the floor. I just ran out there because I felt so overwhelmed. I can’t believe they did this,” she said.

  1. this wedding shoulda neva happen in the first place! too much bad blood. I’m sure the children knew their parents didn’t get on. they should have tried to bring some closure to the matter before the wedding imo

  2. They should never have invited her. Anybody I know won’t let me have peace of mind on my wedding day is not coming, I don’t care the relation.

  3. Very unfortunate that they allowed their vitriol to spill over into these two ppl’s special day. It would have been better if they hadn’t showed up instead of creating such a scene. I wish I had the means to send the couple on a luxurious honeymoon to make up for this miss.
