A quarrel has broken out between People’s National Party (PNP) supporters loyal to President Portia Simpson Miller and others supporting St Ann South East Member of Parliament Lisa Hanna.
The factions are gathered in different areas of the Cedar Grove Academy in St Catherine where the PNP’s National Executive Council is now meeting.
“Lisa must go,” said a member of the group loyal to Simpson Miller.
“Everything in life has an expiry date,” countered a member of the group supporting Hanna.
The much larger Simpson Miller clan then began chanting “Lisa must go!”
At one point the interaction threatened to get physical between two men. Soon after, a woman pulled a knife threatening to stab a man.The woman was accosted by the police but had thrown away the knife before.
The knife has since been recovered by the police.
There has been increased calls for Simpson Miller to step aside following her controversial statement in St Ann and her local government election loss.
She has now announced that she will not seek re-election next September.
