Ganja worth over $6.3m seized at Port of Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Customs Agency is reporting that members of the Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team and officers from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Narcotics Division, on Wednesday seized two shipments containing 1,166.32 pounds and 112.10 pounds of marijuana respectively.
The seizure has an estimated street value of $6,392,000.00.
During routine checks, the team reportedly found bags in what should have been an empty shipping container. When probed, the bags contained 37 rectangular packages, with vegetable matter. Additional, checks led to the seizure of a further 192 packages with vegetable matter in another shipping container.
JCA said that both seizures were field tested to be marijuana.
No arrests have been made in connection to the seizures.
