GIVING DEMONSTRATES LOVE
“I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others., “ for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ , that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might became rich” ( 2 Cor 8:8-9)
Giving is a joyous privilege. Giving is not based on what we have or don’t have. Giving is not based on how comfortable or difficult life may be. In 2 Cor. 8:5-7, Paul referred to this grace of giving. Our salvation is based on grace. (Ephesus 2:8), and all that we do for God is the result of His grace in our lives. Even the act of giving is dependent on God’s grace.
God demonstrated love by giving his only begotten son Jesus Chris who came and died for our sins at the cross of Calvary. Paul urged the Corinthian Christians to excel in their giving. The term describes giving that goes beyond the minimum. A person who excels in giving never asks how much so I have to give. But rather how much do I get to give? And how can I give more? The idea is giving with an attitude of overwhelming generosity.
Christian who fails to give will always struggle in their spiritual development because giving is not optional. Love is demonstrated throughout actions, and one of the ways Christians demonstrated their love for Christ is through giving. When we give our money to support Christ’s ministry through the local church, we demonstrate our love for our savior and his kingdom.
Jesus Chris is an ultimate example of giving. Christ’s method of giving was based on sacrifice. He gave up the riches of Heaven when he came to earth. Christ set aside his rights as God when He became a human. He gave up what was rightful His that we might gain eternal life through Him. Christ sacrificial self-giving demonstrated God’s love for the world.
Giving to the Lord is meant to be part of our expression of gratitude and praise to God and his faithfulness to us. So, give it shall come back to you, good measure, press down shaken together, and running over.
Prayer:
1 Oh God, every transaction of my fathers that has giving us out as collateral, let that transactions be cut off by fire in Jesus name.
2 Every strong man or strong woman inform of cat, dog, rat, bird and witch hunting me, what are you waiting for, receive Holy Ghost judgment in Jesus name.
3 Every arrow fighting me, my children, carrier, I return that arrow back to sender.
Liberation Thought: I will develop a lifestyle of sacrificial giving.
