GUN AND AMMO SEIZED IN MAXFIELD BUT NO ARREST MADE

Following an increase in operations in the Maxfield Avenue area due to an upsurge in gang violence in the last week, the police seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in the community on Tuesday.

No one was arrested.

About 3:15 p.m., the police were on an operation when they searched a property.

A Smith and Wesson 9 millimetre pistol containing six rounds of ammunition was found.

In the meantime, Superintendent Howard Chambers, head of the Kingston West Police, has said investigators remain uncertain of what has led to the spate of shootings in the division.

Several persons were killed last week, with more than 15 persons shot between Thursday and Saturday.
