GUNSHOT INJURIES COSTING JAMAICA 400K A DAY

The current crime wave sweeping the Corporate Area has started to take a further toll on the Kingston Public Hospital, KPH.

CEO of the KPH, Errol Greene, last night revealed that there has been a spike in the number of crime victims being treated at the hospital over the past three days forcing it to take drastic action which will affect other patients. He told RJR News that this is now affecting operations at the Kingston Public Hospital.
He explained that the hospital is overflowing with patients, and elective surgeries have been cancelled to accommodate the increased number of emergency surgeries due to the number of gunshot victims.

Last month at a Joint Select Committee of Parliament, it was revealed that it has cost the country almost $80 million to treat victims of gun violence at the KPH since January. This is approximately $400,000 per day.

An emergency meeting has been called this morning to discuss the crisis at the Kingston Public Hospital.

  1. So spread it out and meck other hospitals carry some a di load. Why all elective surgeries fi cancelled and cancer surgeries put off. All cataracts and dem tings a put off. Send some of these gunshot victims to other hospitals. Doctors trained in their specialities can’t all tun in a trauma surgeons, what about the mental health of the doctors and honing their skills in their areas of specialization. Di whole ting just seem like a cluster***.
