You have heard that the law of Moses says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:43 -45
Adolf Hitler was an Austrian and grew up in Vienna where the mayor extremely hated the Jews. Shortly after the First World War, Adolf Hitler and the Nazis began a hate campaign against Jews living in Germany. They blamed the Jews for Germany’s defeat in the war as well as the economic crisis. They felt the solution to all the problems they faced as a nation was to banish the Jews from society with this political message of hate and the promise to make Germany a large and economically powerful country Hitler’s party won the 1932 election; that victory was the beginning of the fall of Germany because only love truly solves problems and builds greatness.
That is why we must be very careful to ensure that all the things we do are inspired by love and not hatred. Do not underestimate the destructive power of hatred. Hatred destroys peace and Jesus says blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called the sons of God. You cannot be a child of God and participate in activities that promote hatred. Anything you plan or do with hatred will always end up in calamity. You must remember that God judges our motives and not just our actions. The reason why you do something is more important than the thing you do. No matter how right a plan might sound, if the reason for the plan is not love, the plan will end in calamity.
Nigeria is going through an economic hard time right now and opposition to the government activities and speeches are being dominated by hate. We must rise up and pray against the spirit of hate so that it will not destroy this nation. David was not able to build the temple because he was a man of war. We cannot build the kingdom of God while we hate and make war. Walk in love. Teach and encourage others to walk in love.
