Security heightened in West Kingston following quadruple shooting
The security forces are keeping a close watch on sections of West Kingston, following a shooting in Coronation Market on Thursday which left four persons hospitalised.
Three of the victims were injured when gunmen entered the market and fired at them.
The shooting, which took place after 11:00 a.am., triggered pandemonium in the busy commercial district.
Senior Superintendent Cornwall Ford, head of the West Kingston Police, told RJR News that increased police/military personnel have been deployed to the area to prevent reprisals.
Superintendent Ford said the violence stemmed from the recent break-in at the Jah-T Plaza on Spanish Town Road.
The plaza is operated by the family of convicted drug kingpin, Christopher “Dudus” Coke. He said the thieves stole goods valued at $1.5 million. They also stole $300,000 in cash.
Since the break-in a man has been killed and warring factions have been trading gunfire nightly in West Kingston.
Ford, who is appealing for calm, told RJR News that the police are tracking down the suspects involved in the shooting, and have already received their names.
Trench Town drive-by shooting
The West Kingston Police are also probing a drive-by shooting in Trench Town, in which one man was shot
It’s reported that, shortly after 10:00 a.m., a car with several men on board approached a group of workers on a construction site. The men in the car reportedly opened fire hitting one of the construction workers.
The injured man has been hospitalised.
Seems like the Coke family has lost their clout in the underworld for thieves to be so daring as to rob their business. I sanction the retaliation (as if I have a say). Kill dem rasss yes.
To the sender, if as you alluded to, it’s one of the Coke brothers that owns the store, then he would aptly be referred to as a popular businessman, regardless of what his extra-curricular activities are. One, if he owns the business, he is, on the strength of that, a business man. The fact that you know him by name or affiliation, makes him popular so “popular business man” would be accurate.
Assuming of course, it’s them. And if it isn’t, then the responding violence would indicate that it’s someone from the same world with access to gunmen willing to act on command.
Knew it was a bad idea for the Commissioner to transfer a Superintendent the people trusted to Montego Bay and put Bigga Ford in West Kingston. I myself dont even trust Bigga Ford.
