But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God John 1:12
There is a very important fundamental aspect of our Christian experience that must be understood and accepted without debate or conflict. The prodigal son demanded for his inheritance and went away to have what he imagined was a great fun time, spending and living large. All he wanted was a good life in which he wasn’t answerable to anyone but himself. He didn’t want to be close to a father who would naturally want to know how he was living his life and spending his inheritance. He became penniless and decided to return to his father who to his utter surprise was happy to see and welcome him back home without reproach. He threw a party and restored his dignity and wealth.
Jesus told this story to give us an insight into the kingdom of God and God’s character. God our Father is so passionate about His children that He initiated a redemption plan that will culminate in our adoption as sons of God, if we would simply believe and accept what He has done for us. It was for this simple but mighty divine plan that there was an immaculate conception through which the Word became flesh and now dwells in us.
God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are infinitely higher than ours. We cannot determine or question His ways; He hasn’t called us to sit in conference and debate His will. God has called us to believe, depend and look up to Him in all things. But first of all we must believe and accept Him so that we can be positioned to depend and look up to Him.
Liberation thought: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
