Dear Sir/Madam,
The round trip toll from Caymanas to Ocho Rios, will consume 2,440 JMD.
Considering the minimum wage of 6,200 JMD per week, clearly, many Jamaicans, will be unable to afford the use of the highway.
The per mile rate on the Florida Turnpike varies with the location and the method of payment, but varies between 6 cents to 15 cents per mile.
The one way 1220 JMD/41 miles = 29.75 JMD/mile .
The 66 kilometer (41 mile) highway has a per mile toll rate, when traveling between Caymanas and Ocho Rios of 24 cents per mile.
At today’s rate of exchange, 1220 JMD is approximately 10 USD. Please note that using a “Sun Pass” on the Florida Turnpike, will allow one to travel 155 miles for 9.60 USD, which is less than it costs for a one way toll on Jamaica’s 41 mile route.
Considering the average salary differential between Florida and Jamaica, it seems extremely unrealistic to impose, so great a burden on Jamaican drivers.
We need people to progress to prosperity BEFORE tolls take them from Prosperity to Poverty!

Highway fi what really when hawdly any good paying jobs fi di masses and safety and security nuh deh. Always coming wid dem distractions instead of fixing real issues weh affect all. Man all get shot a work overtime wey day pon di highway, kmt. Land Gi wey to strangers fi wah ongle God one knows, while so many not even have a proper place to live, 2400 poor families could get half acre free fi start dem. Di highway soon teck use fi cow and goat crossing.
