A Jamaican who was among three men charged in connection with Monday’s drug haul in the Bahamas has been sent to prison for 14 years.
The men were held after the Royal Bahamas Defence Force intercepted a 28-foot go fast vessel during an early morning operation off the Ragged Island Chain.
Goffney Patrick, 56, who is from Clarendon as well as the Bahamians, Jeffery Griffin, 45, and Tahj Turnquest, 42, appeared in a Bahamian court on Thursday on drug charges.
The Jamaican pleaded guilty and was sentenced.
The Bahamians pleaded not guilty and were remanded until their next court appearance on October 10.
According to court dockets, the three men were found in possession of 1,452 pounds of Indian Hemp with an estimated street value of more than B$1 million.
