Three Jamaicans sentenced ranging from 2 to 3 years for ganja trafficking in Cayman

Three Jamaicans who were caught offloading ganja at a beach in Cayman six months ago have been sentenced to terms ranging from two and a half to three years.
Linton Pillarchie of St. Elizabeth, as well as Eyon Johnson and Cephas Reynolds both from Westmoreland, were sentenced on Monday.
They previously pleaded guilty to importing 438 pounds of ganja into the Cayman Islands on the night of September 28, 2017.
Crown counsel Kenneth Ferguson said two officers were on patrol in the vicinity of San Sebastian when they saw the men removing packages from a canoe onto the shore.
The officers called for assistance. The three men on the beach ran off in different directions. A police helicopter did surveillance in the area and other officers secured the packages.
The boat contained food, men’s clothing, a handheld GPS and six 55-gallon drums of fuel. The three Jamaicans were later found.
