JAMAICAN POLICE SAY THEY HAVENT REFUSED HELP IN TRYING TO SOLVE CANADIAN COUPLE MURDER

The Police High Command has denied claims that the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) refused assistance from international law enforcement agencies to investigate the killing of Melbourne and Etta Flake in Retreat, St. Thomas on January 9.

The couple’s daughter, Debbie Olfert, said the Royal Canadian Mounted Police offered to help local police in the investigation but was turned down by the JCF.

In a statement Friday morning, the High Command said that at no time has the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or Interpol approached the JCF to assist with the investigation.

The High Command added that the JCF and the Canadian Mounted Police Liaison Officer, who is attached to the Canadian High Commission, have an open and professional working relationship.

The statement also noted that Jamaica is an active member of Interpol with an established local office.

The Police High Command said the investigation into the Flakes’ killing is progressing and if the need arises, the JCF will not hesitate to request the input of international law enforcement agencies.

  1. See with the daughter, is not everyday both your parents die under violent circumstances, her head and heart in upheaval. I pray nobody have to go through what she is going through right now. She couldn’t save dem in their time of need, so she doing everything to bring the criminal to face justice, like any good daughter would. I hope they find those responsible for this heinous crime. May God give her the strength to endure the hard road ahead.
