LOTTERY SCAMMER PASTOR TO GO TO COURT TODAY

A Westmoreland pastor is to answer to lottery scam charges when he faces the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court today.
The police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) reported that Tariq Mahabeir, a pastor of Coke Street in the parish was formally charged with breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction) (Special Provision) Act on Monday.
He was offered bail in the sum of J$250,000.
Mahabeir was arrested following an investigation that was launched on Wednesday, January 27 after a search of a room he occupied at his Coke Street home yielded over 50 sheets of paper populated with identity information of people living overseas, CCU said.
