MAN GETS 12 MONTHS FOR HEAD BUTTING GIRLFRIEND

A man who appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court for headbutting his girlfriend but who tried to escape when he was remanded, was sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Collin Hutchinson, 30, of Lawrence Tavern in St Andrew was sentenced to six months in prison for unlawful wounding, and another six months for escaping police custody.

Hutchinson was sentenced by Senior Parish Judge Pusey when he appeared in court on Friday.

Hutchinson was arrested and charged in July for assaulting the mother of his child.

According to the police report, the complainant was at home on the night in question when Hutchinson came home sometime after midnight and wanted to search her phone.

An argument developed and the complainant left the room and was outside in the passage when Hutchinson attacked her and used his head to hit her in the forehead.

The matter was reported and he was arrested.

On August 31 when Hutchinson appeared in court, he pleaded guilty and was remanded for sentencing.

However, the court heard that when he was taken to the Half-Way-Tree police lock-up he ran away from the police towards the Gun Court, but was held by the cops.

On Friday before he was sentenced, Hutchinson mumbled something that was not audible and when the judge asked him if he had anything to say, she also uttered “I don’t read lips on Fridays.”
