A 31 year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder and triple shooting in Portmore, St. Catherine five years ago.
Oshane Smith, otherwise called ‘Andre Smith’ and ‘Kapachie’ of Airy Mount and Portmore in St. Catherine was sentenced on June 9.
He was convicted by a seven-member jury after a nine-day trial.
On December 12, 2011, 43 year-old Paul Moore, a JUTC employee, and members of his family where having a get together in their yard at Dry River in Portmore, when Smith entered and opened fire on them.
Three persons were shot.
Mr. Moore was pronounced dead at hospital.
Smith was sentenced to life in prison and will have to serve 28 years behind bars before becoming eligible for parole.
He was also sentenced to 42 years for wounding, shooting and illegal possession of a firearm.
