NO TO BLAME GAMES
“There was a man named Jabez who was more distinguished than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and extend my lands! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request. 1Chronicles 4:9 – 10
I guess it is right to say it is human nature that makes us always try to find explanations or justification for everything we see or experience. The healing of the man who was born blind was a very dramatic miracle that took place during the earthly ministry of Jesus. I am sure the people had concluded that the woman with the issue of blood was probably a woman of easy-virtue who was serving the punishment for living a wayward life. So when they saw the man who was born blind, the usual blame game to justify his predicament kicked off and Jesus promptly cleared the air.
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. (John 9:1 -3)
Jabez was afflicted with limitation in progress and his trouble was traced to the way he was born. But Jabez was not interested in the blame game that seemed to justify the works of darkness. He cried out to God and God answered his prayer. Even though it is true that the reason why your family is destitute is because of idol worship by your ancestors, you must imitate Jabez and begin to cry out to God instead of playing the blame game and accusing your ancestors. The devil is cool with that kind of blame game because it keeps you going round in circles of affliction. The mistake has been made; the consequent curse is destroying your life. Rise up and do what it takes to set yourself free. You will never become who you want to be if you keep justifying or blaming everyone else for who you are now.
