MINISTER of Local Government and Community Development Desmond McKenzie said yesterday that he is unaware of any sort of ‘bushing work’ being authorised by the Government.
The minsiter was responding to claims by the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) that $600 million had been allocated for bushing sidewalks, leading up to the November 28 Local Government election.
PNP General Secretary Paul Burke, in a release yesterday, urged “well thinking Jamaicans” to interpret and seek answers about the spending of some $600 million of taxpayers’ money to facilitate the clearance and clean-up of shrubbery from the nation’s roadways, just a week before the staging of the local government elections.
