POLICE CHARGED FOR SOLICITING BRIBE FROM GERMAN MAN

A police corporal was on Tuesday fined $200,000 or six months in prison for corruption when he appeared in the St Mary Parish Court.

It is reported that in September 2006, Corporal Delroy Bishop solicited and accepted the sum of $100,000.00 in order to facilitate the process of bail of a German national facing drug charges.

A report was subsequently made to the then Internal Affairs/Anti-Corruption Division and an investigation which led to an operation resulted in the arrest and charge of Bishop.
