The Jamaica Constabulary Force is reporting the seizure of a firearm and a large quantity of ammunition in separate incidents across the island in the last 24 hours.
The seizures began about 8:30 am in Manchester, where the police seized fifteen 5.56 rounds of ammunition at a burnt out garbage heap on an open lot on Wildman Street in Christiana. No one was arrested in connection with the find.
About 2:00 pm the May Pen Police were conducting an operation in Hayes, Clarendon when they found one-hundred-and-sixty 5.56 rounds of ammunition also on an open lot. No one was arrested in connection with this seizure.
Meanwhile, at the western end of the island, the St James Police seized an Arcus 9mm pistol on Williams Street in Montego Bay. Reports are that about 11:00 pm, lawmen on patrol observed two men sitting at North Gully. On their approach, one of the men allegedly dropped the firearm and ran.
Investigations are ongoing in all three incidents.
