A police officer was yesterday arrested in the vicinity of the Norman Manley International Airport after a search of his vehicle revealed a quantity of ganja.
The drug was reportedly packaged for export. Further investigation led to the arrest of a woman in connection with the find.
The 43-year-old constable, who is assigned to the Kingston Central Division, was stopped by while driving along the Palisadoes main road.
The vehicle was searched and a quantity of vegetable matter resembling ganja prepared for export, along with over US$7000, and more than J$100, 000 were found.
Investigations led to a further search being conducted at premises in Bridgeport, St Catherine. The police report that vegetable matter resembling ganja and cash were also found at the dwelling resulting in the arrest of a female.
Investigations are ongoing.
