POLICE INVOLVED IN UCHENCE GANG ACTIVITIES WITNESS SAYS

Witness testifies about cop’s involvement in gang activities

The Home Circuit Court on Monday heard testimony about a policeman’s involvement in the Uchence Wilson gang and its illegal activities.

The prosecution’s witness was on the stand for the Uchence Wilson gang trial which is now in its second week.

The witness testified that one night after members of the gang robbed a fruit vendor’s house in St. Mary, the policeman, who he referred to as ‘Knight’, went to a location and collected about five guns they had used in the robbery.

When asked whether he was sure it was the policemen, the witness said he had seen the cop on more than one occasion, once in Linstead, St. Catherine and again when he went to another location to give him money and phone cards they had stolen.

The witness also said he was sure it was the policeman as he was sitting in a Toyota Yaris motor car the gang would normally use to carry out robberies, when one of his cronies called the cop to the location.

The witness could not say where in St. Mary he and the other gang members were when the policeman arrived for the guns.

The witness said he did not remember the year the incident happened but recalled it was about midnight and that the guns were delivered to the policeman under a street light on a road he could not identify.

The Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC) alleged that the Uchence Wilson gang was involved in murders, shootings, robberies, and cases of rape in St. Catherine, St. Ann, St. Andrew, Manchester, Trelawny, St. Mary and Clarendon.

The accused, including a police corporal, have been charged under the anti-gang legislation.
