A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a man in Central Kingston more than a decade ago.
Gareth Davis, who was one of two constables charged with shooting Omar Marshall, will be eligible for parole after serving 15 years.
The other officer, Christobel Smith, was charged with manslaughter and sentenced to six years and 10 months.
Eyewitnesses reportedly testified that in October 2009, Mr. Marshall was in his front yard when four cops held and dragged him to the back of the property where he was shot.
The policemen claimed they fired their guns in self-defence.
