“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15
Noah had three sons. One of them was Ham. Ham saw his father lying drunk and uncovered in the tent one day. Rather than cover his father’s nakedness, he went and called his two brothers to come and feast their eyes. Thus, he derided and made jest of his father. That was disrespectful. So Noah placed a curse on him. Ham might have dismissed that curse as the worthless rambling of a drunk that can only come to naught. But the reverse was the case. He simply did not realize the power that accompanies parental curse or blessing. The Bible commands us: “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12). Your parents have a definite say in your life after all.
Curse is the absence of peace in one’s life. The curse that Noah uttered in a drunken state concerning his son eventually came into manifestation. Like Ham, many people are ignorant that they are suffering from the curse placed upon them by their fathers or parents. Indeed, it is only the prophet and God Himself who can overrule your parents in matters pertaining to your life and destiny.
The Bible declares: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)…that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3:13-14). God allowed that Our Saviour, Jesus Christ be crucified on the cross of Calvary to redeem us from every curse. If you accept that Jesus died for your sins and curses, you are no longer a victim to curses, be it parental or whichever. You are delivered from every foundational curse when you receive and confess the risen Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour.
