The Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) continues to receive reports of women and girls being sexually assaulted by men operating unregistered taxis. Some of the attacks have also been carrried out by men travelling as passengers in the vehicles. In a statement Tuesday afternoon, CISOCA said the incidents reported so far have occurred in the Corporate Area. CISOCA is therefore warning persons to charter only registered public passenger vehicles. Additionally, it is urging persons to take note of the licence plate number of vehicles and share the information with a family member or friend. Persons who may have been victims of sexual assaults are encouraged to report the incident to CISOCA by calling 876-926-4079. Additionally, anyone with information that can assist investigators to nab the culprits is being asked to contact CISOCA detectives or 311.
There needs to be a taxi service geared to women and children. These taxis should be operated by women and the company run by women.
