Committal proceedings against 27 year old Chaddane Harris, who is accused of being a serial rapist, stalled on Monday after investigators requested more time to conduct tests on DNA samples collected in the probe.
When the matter came up, detectives told the court they wanted time to cross reference DNA samples collected at some of the crime scenes to determine if they match those Mr. Harris voluntarily provided to the police.
The judge has requested that the analyst from the Institute of Forensic Science and Legal Medicine appear before her on December 11 to determine the length of time needed to complete the DNA analysis.
Mr. Harris was arrested in June during a manhunt for a serial rapist in Portmore.
The Greater Portmore Police reported that DNA samples collected in the probe linked Mr. Harris to the rape of a 14 year old girl in the municipality.
Investigators alleged they also found his fingerprints at several homes that were burglarised.
