A simpleton of course will condemn one form of violence as oppose to condemning all of it in general. Idealistically a man should not hit a woman ( or anybody else for that matter) but let’s not forget that we live in a culture (Jamaica) where a lot of the women will quicker get into a physical confrontation with a man (which often times is instigated & initiated by the woman herself) then they would ever get into with another woman, so to say that under all circumstances it’s wrong for A man to hit a woman is over-simplifying the situation and social dynamic between men and women in Jamaica in 2016. It’s just as bad (in my opinion) for a man to hit another man, it’s no different. Violence in itself is an act we should discourage and have zero tolerance for unless it’s in self-defense and is used as a last resort. The bigger message is that through communication we can quell all of our grievances and lead a more peaceful existence with each-other.
